Nestled between Scarborough and Filey, Cayton Bay is a wide, sweeping, sandy beach backed by cliffs. The beach is generally quiet and has a wild air about it. It's a favourite with surfers, windsurfers, bird watchers and fossil hunters and is home to one of the most longest established surf schools in the UK.

Cornelian Bay — hidden on the Smugglers’ Coast between Scarborough and Cayton Bay — is a beach for explorers: a rocky place with names seemingly straight out of Treasure Island: High Scar, Perilous Rocks and the knife-edge ridge of Knipe Point. Fittingly, it’s hard to find, but if you can locate the pumping station off Cornelian Way on the outskirts of Osgodby, follow the steep path from there downhill towards the sea.
